A new housing development in Perry, The Preserve at Ag Village, hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony Wednesday afternoon symbolizing the official start of the development. Located off exit 134 of Interstate 75 on Perry Parkway is The Preserve at Ag Village. The developer is The Loudermilk Companies, builder C.W. Williams Homes and realtor Landmark Realty.
President/CEO of The Loudermilk Companies, Robin Loudermilk, thanked local elected officials, members the Perry Chamber of Commerce and many others for coming out to celebrate with them Wednesday.
“We are very proud to be here in Perry. I’ve been coming to Perry since I was a kid going hunting with my dad and still do to this day. Over the years, I also would always eat lunch or dinner at the New Perry Hotel, so it’s exciting to be a part of the community that I have always loved and admired.”
Loudermilk said in total the development has over 400 lots. Right now 13 houses are being built, and this first phase is 144 lots.
“This subdivision sat idle for eight to 10 years after the downturn,” Loudermilk said. “So once it became available, my partners, C.W. Williams Homes and many other folks, were able to reinvigorate this subdivision and try to activate it. The original name is The Preserve. We just tagged Ag Village to it to keep a laid back, agricultural country lifestyle.”
Perry Mayor Jimmy Faircloth was in attendance and thanked Loudermilk and his partners for what they are doing for the city of Perry.
“It does warm my heat to see construction, especially this type,” Faircloth said. “You are making our city a lot better and not only that but you are adding to the uniqueness of Perry. That is invaluable. All the time I have people reach out to me and ask please don’t ever lose that uniqueness of the city. You’re adding to it and enhancing it, making the quality of life that much better. I thank you from Perry City Council, the citizens and myself. You’re a visionary.”
Houston County Board of Commissioners chairman Tommy Stalnaker echoed the words of Faircloth and also welcomed Loudermilk to Houston County and the middle Georgia area. Houston County School Superintendent Mark Scott thanked Loudermilk, too, for what he is doing.
“Our system continues to grow each year,” Scott said. “This year we grew 487 students, and 151 of those were in Perry. It’s good to see quality housing coming in and growing in the right ways. Our school system is here to provide quality education, and we like to partner with developers in our community. We thank you and stand ready to help you in any way we can.”
The Preserve at Ag Village will feature landscapes and will have a pool and pool pavilion. For more information, visit www.thepreserveatagvillage.com.
